I know of nothing to equal the happy expectancy of finding something new, something unguessed in advance, something only you would find, because as well as being a photographer, you were a certain kind of human being, and you would react to something all others might walk by.

Joan Didion

I'm not telling you to make the world better, because I don't think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I'm just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. To make your own work and take pride in it. To seize the moment. And if you ask me why you should bother to do that, I could tell you that the grave's a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. Nor do they sing there, or write, or argue, or see the tidal bore on the Amazon, or touch their children. And that's what there is to do and get it while you can and good luck at it.
David Hurn

Life as it unfolds in front of the camera is full of such complexity, wonder and surprise that I find it unnecessary to create new realities. There is more pleasure for me, in things such as they are

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I have been busy reworking the blog and resizing all the pictures.  I'm going smaller and adding a side bar and working on having some galleries and trying  to figure out a way to put a photoblog as well as a regular blog. I'm pretty sure that's doable although it might take some HTML or CSS knowledge which I don't have, but the blog blog should be done in a couple of days. I wanted to sit with it a while and make sure it was what I wanted because if you're one of the two or three people that frequents this blog you well know that I tend to change things up and then change things back. I go from photoblog to blog and back again on a whim. So this new "design" will allow me to have both.

I also want to do a bit more writing, maybe some kind of book reviews and I'd love to do some interviews.

It's time to step things up and put some love into this baby.
