Margaret Bourke-White

I know of nothing to equal the happy expectancy of finding something new, something unguessed in advance, something only you would find, because as well as being a photographer, you were a certain kind of human being, and you would react to something all others might walk by.

Joan Didion

I'm not telling you to make the world better, because I don't think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I'm just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. Black and White on July 1

DSC_0538_01

I haven't been out in a while with my camera for the sole purpose of taking pictures. I always have a camera with me but in my day to day activities I forget to stop and take the time to look around and see what is there and so I seldom take it out and use it. But today I went out looking for pictures and I have to be honest, looking for pictures is harder than not. The goal was black and white, which always makes it a little more challenging because you have to see in black and white.  You have to forget about the colors enticing you and look beyond that. But it also allows you to become more focused, and focused is good.
